The wait is finally over! Nvidia’s GTX 950 is officially launched today with a price tag of $160. The little beast is based on Maxwell 2.0 and successor of the GTX 750, which was released in the year 2014 and the first Maxwell based graphics card by NVIDIA. Maxwell 2.0 is bit more improved as compared with the Maxwell 1.0 and includes a feature like HDMI 2.0 and more power efficient. When the Maxwell was introduced by NVIDIA last year, it was claimed that it is the most power efficient graphics card ever and adds around 25% performance as compared with the previous architecture based graphics cards.
This new graphics card fully supports DirectX 12 (feature level 12_1), a new API after successful DirectX 11.2 by Microsoft, Nvidia Shadowplay and newly GeForce Experience for one click optimization.

It is clear from the specs that the new GTX 950 is more powerful as compared with the GTX 750 Ti but it requires a 6-pin connector, as it consumes 30W more than the GTX 750 Ti and 30W less than the GTX 960.
Nvidia GTX 950 snatches the budget 1080p Gaming crown from AMD Radeon R7 370
There are reports coming that the AMD’s R7 370 somehow failed to compete against the newly launched GTX 950. Although, the R7 370 was launched in June with the price tag of $150. We also have the recent initial benchmarks of the GTX 950 as well as R7 370 where it can be seen that the 950 leads the scores chart easily. It was claimed that the R7 370 is a solid budget gaming card but it seems struggling against the 950. Wait! the war is not over yet. AMD is preparing to launch the R7 370X to counter against the upcoming GTX 950 Ti. Both will be launched in coming weeks with almost same price (under $200). Only time will tell which is the best among two in terms of price and performance. Following are the initial benchmarks of the GTX 950:
Conclusion
It can be said that this graphics card is a best choice for the gamers out there looking for an upgrade under $200. It loses to the GTX 960 in terms of specs but considering the price and architecture, it is a perfect GPU for 1080p gaming.
